January 1921: Shoghi Effendi enters Oxford’s Balliol College

Some time in spring of 1920 Shoghi Effendi left Haifa for France and England, to continue his studies at Oxford University from October 1920, entering Balliol College in January 1921. Balliol had a very high standing, being one of Oxford's oldest colleges. Before he left for England Shoghi Effendi acted as 'Abdu'l-Bahá's secretary and translated His Tablets addressed to the Bahá'ís of the West.
