January 1899: The sacred remains of the Bab arrive in the Holy Land

Fifty lunar years after the Bab’s execution in Tabriz, Persia, His sacred remains were transported, “in pursuance of directions issued by ‘Abdu’l-Baha, …by way of Isfahan, Kirmanshah, Baghdad and Damascus to Beirut and thence by sea to ‘Akka.” They arrived at their destination on 31 January 1899. The Master hid the blessed Dust in the room of the Greatest Holy Leaf in the house of ‘Abdu’llah Pasha until Naw-Ruz of 1909 when He was at last able to inter it with all honors in its permanent resting place in the bosom of Carmel.
